A concert, a play, a reading, a corporate event: A performance takes the spectator into a world of emotions. What happens, happens between performer and audience. The essence of live mixing is to be invisible, the best mix is when microphones are irrelevant, speakers disappear and nothing distracts from the performance.
Until such moments can come about there’s a lot to do: Understanding the needs of the artist, the venue, the performance, the audience and the organizer. Getting equipment running to serve the needs is my job, making the performing artist forget any technical issues is my goal. A performer that feels safe in his setting will give his best performance, and it’s what an audience deserves.
